ܘܒܢܐ ܗܘܐ ܠܗ ܐ̈ܦܕܢܐ ܒܩܘܪ̈ܝܐ ܕܕܘܝܕ ܘܒܢܐ ܗܘܐ ܕܘܟܬܐ ܠܩܒܘܬܐ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܘܠܡܐ̈ܢܝ ܡܫܟܢܐ
mshkn' wlm'ny dmry' lqbwth' dwkth' hw' wbn' ddwyd bqwry' 'pdn' lh hw' wbn'
David made himself houses in David’s city; and he prepared a place for God’s ark, and pitched a tent for it.

ܗܝܕܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܗܘܐ ܕܘܝܕ ܠܠܘ̈ܝܐ ܠܡܫܩܠ ܠܩܒܘܬܐ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܘܠܡܐ̈ܢܝ ܡܫܟܢܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܠܗܘܢ ܠܠܘ̈ܝܐ ܓܒܐ ܡܪܝܐ ܠܡܫܡܫܘ ܘܠܡܫܩܠ ܩܒܘܬܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܘܠܡܫܡܫܘܬܗ ܠܥܠܡ

Then David said, “No one ought to carry God’s ark but the Levites. For Yahweh has chosen them to carry God’s ark, and to minister to him forever.”

ܘܟܢܫ ܕܘܝܕ ܠܟܠܗ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܠܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܠܡܣܩܘܬܗ̇ ܠܩܒܘܬܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܠܕܘܟܬܐ ܕܒܢܐ ܠܗ̇

David assembled all Israel at Jerusalem, to bring up Yahweh’s ark to its place, which he had prepared for it.

ܘܟܢܫ ܕܘܝܕ ܠܒܢ̈ܘܗܝ ܕܐܗܪܘܢ ܘܠܠܘ̈ܝܐ

David gathered together the sons of Aaron and the Levites:

ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܘܠܒܢ̈ܘܗܝ ܕܩܗܬ ܠܐܘܪܝܠ ܩܫܝܫܐ ܘܠܐ̈ܚܘܗܝ ܡܐܐ ܘܥܣܪ̈ܝܢ
wesryn m'' wl'khwhy qshysh' l'wryl dqhth wlbnwhy lhwn w'mr
of the sons of Kohath, Uriel the chief, and his brothers one hundred twenty;

ܘܠܒܢܘ̈ܗܝ ܕܡܪܪܝ ܥܫܐܝܠ ܩܫܝܫܐ ܘܠܐ̈ܚܘܗܝ ܡܐܬܝܢ ܘܥܣܪ̈ܝܢ
wesryn m'thyn wl'khwhy qshysh' esh'yl dmrry wlbnwhy
of the sons of Merari, Asaiah the chief, and his brothers two hundred twenty;

ܠܒ̈ܢܘܗܝ ܕܓܪܫܘܢ ܝܘܐܝܠ ܩܫܝܫܐ ܘܐܚ̈ܘܗܝ ܡܐܐ ܘܬܠܬܝܢ
wthlthyn m'' w'khwhy qshysh' yw'yl dgrshwn lbnwhy
of the sons of Gershom, Joel the chief, and his brothers one hundred thirty;

ܠܒ̈ܢܘܗܝ ܕܐܠܝܨܦܢ ܫܡܥܝܐ ܩܫܝܫܐ ܘܐܚ̈ܘܗܝ ܡܐܬܝܢ

of the sons of Elizaphan, Shemaiah the chief, and his brothers two hundred;

ܠܒ̈ܢܘܗܝ ܕܚܒܪܘܢ ܐܠܝܒ ܩܫܝܫܐ ܘܐ̈ܚܘܗܝ ܬܡܢܐܝܢ
thmn'yn w'khwhy qshysh' 'lyb dkhbrwn lbnwhy
of the sons of Hebron, Eliel the chief, and his brothers eighty;

ܠܒ̈ܢܘܗܝ ܕܥܘܙܝܠ ܥܡܝܢܕܒ ܩܫܝܫܐ ܘܐܚ̈ܘܗܝ ܡܐܐ ܘܬܪ̈ܥܣܪ
wthresr m'' w'khwhy qshysh' emyndb dewzyl lbnwhy
of the sons of Uzziel, Amminadab the chief, and his brothers one hundred twelve.

ܘܩܪܐ ܕܘܝܕ ܠܨܕܘܩ ܟܗܢܐ ܘܠܐܒܝܬܪ ܘܠܠܘ̈ܝܐ ܘܠܐܘܪܝܠ ܘܠܠܥܣܐ ܘܠܐܘܝܠ ܘܠܥܫܝܐ ܘܠܫܥܝܐ ܘܠܐܘܪܝܠ ܘܠܥܡܝܢܕܒ

David called for Zadok and Abiathar the priests, and for the Levites: for Uriel, Asaiah, Joel, Shemaiah, Eliel, and Amminadab,

ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܪ̈ܫܝ ܐܒ̈ܗܬܐ ܕܠܘ̈ܝܐ ܐܬܩܕܫܘ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܘܐܚ̈ܝܟܘܢ ܕܬܣܩܘܢ ܠܩܒܘܬܐ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܠܕܘܟܬܐ ܕܒܢܝܐ ܗܘܬ ܠܗ̇ ܡܢ ܠܘܩܕܡ
lwqdm mn lh hwth dbny' ldwkth' d'ysryl 'lh' dmry' lqbwth' dthsqwn w'khykwn 'nthwn 'thqdshw dlwy' 'bhth' rshy 'nthwn lhwn w'mr
and said to them, “You are the heads of the fathers’ households of the Levites. Sanctify yourselves, both you and your brothers, that you may bring the ark of Yahweh, the God of Israel, up to the place that I have prepared for it.

ܕܠܐ ܢܬܪܘܥ ܒܢ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܢ ܡܛܠ ܕܠܐ ܬܒܥܢܝܗܝ ܐܝܟ ܕܝܢܐ
dyn' 'yk thbenyhy dl' mTl 'lhn mry' bn nthrwe dl'
For because you didn’t carry it at first, Yahweh our God broke out in anger against us, because we didn’t seek him according to the ordinance.”

ܘܐܬܩܕܫܘ ܟܗ̈ܢܐ ܘܠܘ̈ܝܐ ܠܡܣܩܘ ܠܩܒܘܬܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ
d'ysryl 'lh' dmry' lqbwthh lmsqw wlwy' khn' w'thqdshw
So the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves to bring up the ark of Yahweh, the God of Israel.

ܘܫܩܠܘ ܠܘ̈ܝܐ ܠܩܒܘܬܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܦܩܕ ܡܘܫܐ ܒܡܠܬܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܘܫܩܠܘ ܗܢܘܢ ܒܟ̈ܬܦܬܗܘܢ
bkthpthhwn hnwn wshqlw dmry' bmlthh mwsh' dpqd 'ykn' dmry' lqbwthh lwy' wshqlw
The children of the Levites bore God’s ark on their shoulders with its poles, as Moses commanded according to Yahweh’s word.

ܘܐܡܪ ܕܘܝܕ ܠܩܫ̈ܝܫܐ ܕܠܘ̈ܝܐ ܠܡܩܡܘ ܠܐܚ̈ܝܗܘܢ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܡܫܡܫܝܢ ܘܡܫܒܚܝܢ ܒܡܐ̈ܢܝ ܬܫܒ̈ܚܬܐ ܒܝܒ̈ܠܐ ܘܒܟܢܪ̈ܐ ܘܒܨ̈ܨܠܐ ܕܢܗܘܘܢ ܡܫܡܥܝܢ ܠܡܪܡܘ ܩܠܗܘܢ ܒܚܕܘܬܐ
bkhdwth' qlhwn lmrmw mshmeyn dnhwwn wbtstsl' wbknr' bybl' thshbkhth' bm'ny wmshbkhyn dmshmshyn l'ylyn l'khyhwn lmqmw dlwy' lqshysh' dwyd w'mr
David spoke to the chief of the Levites to appoint their brothers as singers with instruments of music, stringed instruments, harps, and cymbals, sounding aloud and lifting up their voices with joy.

ܘܐܩܝܡܘ ܠܘ̈ܝܐ ܠܗܡܢ ܒܪ ܝܘܐܝܠ ܘܡܢ ܐܚ̈ܘܗܝ ܠܐܣܦ ܒܪ ܒܪܟܝܐ ܘܡܢ ܒ̈ܢܝ ܡܪܪܝ ܐܚܘܗܘܢ ܐܬܢ ܒܪ ܩܝܫܗܘ
qyshhw br 'thn 'khwhwn mrry bny wmn brky' br l'sp 'khwhy wmn yw'yl br lhmn lwy' w'qymw
So the Levites appointed Heman the son of Joel; and of his brothers, Asaph the son of Berechiah; and of the sons of Merari their brothers, Ethan the son of Kushaiah;

ܘܥܡܗܘܢ ܐܚܘܗܘܢ ܬܢܝܢܐ ܙܟܪܝܐ ܒܪ ܢܥܐܝܠ ܘܝܘܚܐܝܠ ܘܐܠܝܒ ܘܒܢܝܐ ܘܐܣܐ ܘܡܬܝܬܐ ܘܐܠܝܦܠܗܘ ܘܡܩܝܗܘ ܘܥܘܒܪ ܐܕܘܡ ܘܝܥܘܐܝܠ ܗܠܝܢ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܕܩ̇ܝܡܝܢ ܥܠ ܬܪ̈ܥܐ
thre' el dqymyn klhwn hlyn wyew'yl 'dwm wewbr wmqyhw w'lyplhw wmthyth' w's' wbny' w'lyb wywkh'yl ne'yl br zkry' thnyn' 'khwhwn wemhwn
and with them their brothers of the second rank: Zechariah, Ben, Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, Obed-Edom, and Jeiel, the doorkeepers.

ܘܡܫܒܚܝܢ ܗܡܢ ܘܐܣܦ ܘܐܬܢ ܗܠܝܢ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܡܫܒܚܝܢ ܒܬܫܒ̈ܚܬܐ ܕܡܐ̈ܢܝ ܢܚܫܐ ܠܡܫܡܫܘ
lmshmshw nkhsh' dm'ny bthshbkhth' mshbkhyn klhwn hlyn w'thn w'sp hmn wmshbkhyn
So the singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, were given cymbals of bronze to sound aloud;

ܥܙܪܝܐ ܥܙܐܝܠ ܘܝܘܚܐܝܠ ܘܥܢܝ ܘܐܠܝܒ ܘܡܥܣܝܐ ܘܒܢܝܐ ܘܕܡܫܒܚܝܢ ܒܬܫ̈ܒܚܬܐ
bthshbkhth' wdmshbkhyn wbny' wmesy' w'lyb weny wywkh'yl ez'yl ezry'
and Zechariah, Aziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Maaseiah, and Benaiah, with stringed instruments set to Alamoth;

ܡܬܝܬܐ ܘܡܩܝܗܘ ܘܥܘܒܪ ܐܕܘܡ ܘܥܘܙܝܠ ܘܥܘܙܝܐ ܗܠܝܢ ܡܫܡܫܝܢ ܒܟܢܪ̈ܐ ܟܠܝܘܡ ܒܝܘܡ ܒܫ̈ܥܝܢ ܬܠܬ ܘܒܫܬ ܘܒܬܫܥ
wbthshe wbshth thlth bsheyn bywm klywm bknr' mshmshyn hlyn wewzy' wewzyl 'dwm wewbr wmqyhw mthyth'
and Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, Obed-Edom, Jeiel, and Azaziah, with harps tuned to the eight-stringed lyre, to lead.

ܘܒܢܝܐ ܪܒܐ ܕܠܘ̈ܝܐ ܫܩ̇ܠ ܟܠܝܘܡ ܒܡܛܠܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܕܘܟܬܐ ܡܬܩܢܐ ܗܘܬ ܠܗ
lh hwth mthqn' ddwkth' mTl bmTl' klywm shql dlwy' rb' wbny'
Chenaniah, chief of the Levites, was over the singing. He taught the singers, because he was skillful.

ܘܒܪܟܝܐ ܘܗܠܩܢܐ ܣ̇ܥܪܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܠܩܒܘܬܐ ܡܕܡ ܕܡܬܒܥܐ ܠܗ̇

Berechiah and Elkanah were doorkeepers for the ark.

ܘܫܒܢܐ ܘܝܘܫܦܛ ܘܢܬܢܝܐܝܠ ܘܥܡܫܝ ܘܙܟܪܝܐ ܘܒܢܝܐ ܘܐܠܝܥܙܪ ܗܠܝܢ ܟܗ̈ܢܐ ܕܩ̇ܪܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܒܩܪ̈ܢܬܐ ܩܕܡ ܩܒܘܬܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܘܥܘܒܪ ܐܕܘܡ ܘܐܚܝܐ ܣ̇ܥܪܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܠܩܒܘܬܐ
lqbwth' hww seryn w'khy' 'dwm wewbr dmry' qbwthh qdm bqrnth' hww dqryn khn' hlyn w'lyezr wbny' wzkry' wemshy wnthny'yl wywshpT wshbn'
Shebaniah, Joshaphat, Nethanel, Amasai, Zechariah, Benaiah, and Eliezer, the priests, blew the trumpets before God’s ark; and Obed-Edom and Jehiah were doorkeepers for the ark.

ܘܗܘܐ ܕܘܝܕ ܘܩܫܝ̈ܫܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܪ̈ܘܪܒܢܐ ܕܐ̈ܠܦܐ ܐ̇ܙܠܝܢ ܠܡܣܩܘ ܩܒܘܬܐ ܕܕܝܬܩܐ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܡܢ ܒܝܬܗ ܕܥܘܒܪ ܐܕܘܡ ܠܩܪܝܬܗ ܕܕܘܝܕ ܒܚܕܘܬܐ ܪܒܬܐ

So David, the elders of Israel, and the captains over thousands went to bring the ark of Yahweh’s covenant up out of the house of Obed-Edom with joy.

ܘܗܘܐ ܕܟܕ ܥ̇ܕܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܠܠܘ̈ܝܐ ܕܫܩܝܠܝܢ ܩܒܘܬܐ ܕܐܝܬ ܒܗ̇ ܕܝܬܩܐ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܕܒܚܘ ܫܒܥܐ ܬܘܪ̈ܝܢ ܘܫܒܥܐ ܕܟܪ̈ܝܢ
dkryn wshbe' thwryn shbe' dbkhw dmry' dythq' bh d'yth qbwth' dshqylyn llwy' mry' edr dkd whw'
When God helped the Levites who bore the ark of Yahweh’s covenant, they sacrificed seven bulls and seven rams.

ܘܕܘܝܕ ܠܒܝܫ ܢܚ̈ܬܐ ܕܒܘܨܐ ܘܟܠܗܘܢ ܠܘ̈ܝܐ ܕܫܩܝܠܝܢ ܩܒܘܬܐ ܠܒܝܫܝܢ ܐܦ ܗܢܘܢ ܢܚ̈ܬܐ ܕܒܘܨܐ ܘܠܥܠ ܡܢ ܢܚ̈ܬܘܗܝ ܕܕܘܝܕ ܕܒܘܨܐ ܠܒܝܫ ܗܘܐ ܦܕܬܐ ܕܒܘܨܐ

David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, as were all the Levites who bore the ark, the singers, and Chenaniah the choir master with the singers; and David had an ephod of linen on him.

ܘܕܘܝܕ ܘܟܠܗܘܢ ܕܒܝܬ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܡܣܩܝܢ ܠܩܒܘܬܐ ܕܐܝܬ ܒܗ̇ ܕܝܬܩܐ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܒܬܫܒ̈ܚܬܐ ܘܒܩܠܐ ܕܩܪ̈ܢܬܐ ܦܫܝ̈ܛܬܐ ܘܟܦܝ̈ܦܬܐ ܘܡܥܫܢܝܢ ܩܠܗܘܢ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܡܪܘܡܐ

Thus all Israel brought the ark of Yahweh’s covenant up with shouting, with sound of the cornet, with trumpets, and with cymbals, sounding aloud with stringed instruments and harps.

As the ark of Yahweh’s covenant came to David’s city, Michal the daughter of Saul looked out at the window, and saw king David dancing and playing; and she despised him in her heart.
